Spring Fling

August 24, 2008

It I think I am just hoping that spring will come sooner rather than later and I have been doing a lot of spring-like cards. This is one of them. It was based on a sketch that was sent to me as part of a Swap Blog I am on called First-Swap-Blog.

Springflowers

It has something like 10 layers, and Australia Post didn’t believe me when I was sending it to my swap partner for the week, that it was only a card.

Don’t you just love the new Pretties Kit!! I dyed the silk flowers by folding them up so the middle of the flower was to a point and repeatedly dipped the tip into the So Saffron stamp pad. I also put a drop of water onto the flower to help the ink spread. I let the ink spread and dipped again, till I had achieved the colour I wanted. It is really great that you can customise the colour of your flowers to match what you are doing. You can also colour the flowers with Stampin’ Pastels.

Flitting Friend

Well recently I had my beautiful niece come to visit for a fleeting moment. She left her Tattoos here, so I made her this card to send her tattoos home to her. She had admired a scrap book page that I had made of my daughter that featured these butterflies and colours that I posted on my blog here.

Her nick name is Brittany Butterfly, so I hope she likes this card. It uses the stamp set “Time Well Spent”.

Simply Sweet!

August 17, 2008

Simple cards have been the mantra lately. I’ve been designing simple cards to make that I can supply packs with instructions for the craft group at the local church to complete. Patchwork and Possibilities meet every second Friday at the St Luke’s Church Hall in Dapto. Unfortuantely I can’t attend every week to teach (I’ve managed to pick up a whole term of work, which is great, but means it’s a huge juggling act to fit in stamping), however my friends Ness and Dawn do a marvellous job of teaching in my absence.

Natural beauty

This card is a small 9 1/2 by 9 1/2 cm card in Always Artichoke, Really Rust and Naturals Ivory. I just recently discovered Naturals Ivory and I am loving it. The flower is lightly coloured using Blender Pens and Chalks. I think I will be making a whole set of these.

Always Awesome Sunset

August 15, 2008

I had so much fun making this card and it was pretty simple. really just some sponging and black embossing. It shows off the bird beautifully.

Of course this was inspired by some of the beautiful work by Michelle Zindorf. She does some beautiful brayer and sponge backgrounds.

This card was made for the recent new Spring Mini Catalogue launch last weekend. It has to be one of my favourite cards I’ve done recently. It displays the new Always stamp set which I fell in love with and just had to have :-) . The Ribbon is just to die for too. It is double sided and really luxurious (comes in chocolate too and you can be sure I ordered that too!!).
